The Ansel Adams Gallery building was constructed in 1925, originally operated as Best’s Studio. The name was changed to its current name in 1972 and is still operated as a family business. Originally a rustic design constructed alongside other village buildings, the studio was significantly modified in 1970.
The addition of the modernist porch and facade mostly obscures the original stone pillars and other rustic details. Though the original character of the building has been obscured, it remains one of the only buildings in Yosemite with both rustic and modernist elements.
