The Mariposa Grove Picnic Area is a terrific place to enjoy your meal amongst nature! Whether it's before or after your visit to the Mariposa Grove, refuel your energy levels here, then continue seeing all that Yosemite National Park has to offer.

The Mariposa Grove Picnic Area is open at all times to vehicles displaying a disability placard and to those who are hiking the Washburn Trail. Vehicles not displaying a disability placard may use the picnic area when shuttle buses are not operating.

Hours

From approximately December to March, the Mariposa Grove Road is closed to vehicles and the shuttle no longer operates. The road, along with all trails within the Grove, remain open to hikers, snowshoers, and skiers.

Getting Here

The Mariposa Grove Picnic Area is located along both the Mariposa Grove Road and Washburn Trail.

Rules & Regulations

Picnic areas are available on a first-come, first-served basis (reservations are not available).

Hazards & Warnings

  • For your safety and that of wildlife:
  • Keep your distance from animals, even if they approach you.
  • Never feed wild animals.
  • Dispose of trash in bear-proof trash cans or dumpsters.
  • While enjoying your picnic, keep your food, trash, and other scented items within arm's reach.
  • If a bear approaches, yell as loudly as possible to scare the bear away.

Accessibility

The Mariposa Grove Picnic Area features accessible picnic tables with extended tops, accessible restrooms, and grills that are accessible.
