Hogwallow Falts Overlook faces southeast from an elevation of 2,665 ft (812 m). You are looking down to Rappahannock County and the town of Flint Hill. Flint Hill was founded in 1836 and by the 1840s and 1850s became prosperous from tobacco production, largely aided by the labor of enslaved African-Americans. When a train was constructed in nearby Wentzville, Flint Hill's production began to slow. Rappahannock County remains an agricultural region to this day.
