One of many public picnic areas in lower Stehekin Valley, the scenic viewpoint has expansive views across the lake and up valley. Interpretive waysides give insight into the history and landscape of the area.
Looking up valley (northwest), the prominent mountain is McGregor Mountain, which rises to an elevation of 8,122 feet (2,475 m). To the left in the notch in the valley are, from left to right, Boston Peak, Booker Mountain, and Buckner Mountain. Snow-covered usually through early July, these peaks host some of the over 300 glaciers in the North Cascades.
