Season: Summer Only (July - September)
Sunrise is open during the summer only, typically from early July to mid-September. Sunrise is an extremely popular destination. To avoid congestion, visit earlier or later in the day or on a weekday. 

The historic Sunrise Day Lodge serves visitors from early July to mid-September, when the Sunrise area is open to vehicles. For specific dates and times check the Operating Hours, which can vary. Stop in for a meal or ice cream after a hike. Pick up supplies and gifts in the building’s gift shop. There is no overnight lodging at the Sunrise Day Lodge.

The Sunrise Day Lodge and fortress style blockade houses and visitor center are part of the National Historic Landmark District. They are set amid colorful subalpine meadows with Mount Rainier and Emmons Glacier as a stunning backdrop.

Opened in 1931, this wood shingled rustic lodge with a steeply pitched roof was built by the Rainier National Park Company. The building was intended to be the first wing of a resort hotel. However, the project didn’t come to complete fruition leaving just the one wing to service hungry visitors, offer gifts and supplies, and provide lodging to concessionaire employees. There are no overnight guest rooms.
