Season: Summer
Paradise is open year-round, but this orientation guide is designed for the summer season when trails are snow-free. In spring and fall, there may be patches of snow covering sections of trail. Please stay on trails, even if it means crossing snow, to avoid trampling delicate meadow plants. Pets are not allowed on trails.
This location is the junction of Skyline Trail and Lower Pebble Creek Trail.
- Skyline Trail is oriented roughly east-west at this intersection, with the uphill trail to the southeast when facing Mount Rainier (north) and the downhill trail heading northwest.
- Pebble Creek Trail goes to the north, connecting to the Muir Snowfield.
How Far Is It?
- Panorama Point via Skyline Trail: 0.3 miles, average walking time 12 minutes, east on the Skyline Trail.
- Paradise via Skyline Trail: 1.6 miles, average walking time 1 hour 2 minutes, west (downhill) on the Skyline Trail.
- Paradise via East Skyline Trail: 3.6 miles, average walking time 2 hours, 19 minutes, east on the Skyline Trail past Panorama Point where the trail becomes the East Skyline Trail.
- Pebble Creek: 0.8 miles, average walking time 31 minutes. The Pebble Creek Trail ends at the sign about crevasses on the Muir Snowfield.
- Camp Muir via Pebble Creek Trail: 2.7 miles; Camp Muir sits at over 10,000 feet in elevation (more than 3,000 feet of climbing from this junction) and requires hiking up the Muir Snowfield, which is a permanent snowfield and requires navigation and winter travel skills. Crampons or microspikes required. Late in the season the snowfield can get icy with open crevasses. Know before you go and check conditions before continuing to Camp Muir.
