Dennison Ferry
in
Mammoth Cave

Prior to the establishment of Mammoth Cave National Park, Dennison Ferry was the site of an active vehicle ferry. Families that once lived in what is now the national park used the ferry to commute to larger towns and to visit other families that lived in the local area.

After the establishment of Mammoth Cave National Park, Dennison Ferry was designated as a camping area, but has since changed to exclusively a day use area. Visitors often come to this area for access to the Green River at the canoe/boat launch found here. The Dennison Ferry to Green River Ferry float gives paddlers an up close and personal experience with the Green River as they float along to witness one of the most unique geological areas in the state of Kentucky. This relaxing float is perfect for beginners, families and anglers. Dennison Ferry is also a popular picnic area, with its serene location an ideal spot for a small family gathering.
