Audubon Avenue
in
Mammoth Cave

This passage was named after John James Audubon, an ornithologist and painter during the early 1800s. He was a friend of the cave owner, Dr. John Croghan. The name prior to this was “Great Bat Avenue” due to the fact it housed a very large colony of bats.

In this location there are four lit showcases containing artifacts from Prehistoric Native American exploration and samples of the minerals they harvested from the cave.
