Split Rock Trailhead
in
Joshua Tree

Split Rock Loop Trail is a 2.5-mile loop hike with 150 feet of elevation gain. On the trail, you’ll see scenic views of the unique rock formations, the jumbo rocks area, and wide-open desert landscapes. You'll also have a chance to take a short spur trail to see Face Rock.

The trail's namesake, Split Rock, is located at the trailhead and is easy to view. If you're looking for a scenic spot to have lunch, there is picnic tables near the trailhead.

Some parts of the trail may be challenging to follow as they intersect with washes and social trails. Pay attention to the trail markers and use the app's offline map option to stay on the trail. Since there is little to no shade, hiking during the summer heat is not recommended. Make sure to bring enough food and water supplies and proper sun protection.
