The North View Trail is a 5.6 mile (round trip) out-and-back hike with 836 ft. of elevation gain. It can be made into a loop hike by connecting with the Maze Loop Trail or Window Loop Trail.
North View Trail offers sweeping valley views of Joshua Tree National Park and the Morongo Basin. You’ll trek through valleys between towering boulder, sandy washes, rocky ridges and landscapes scattered with Joshua trees and native desert cacti. There are two short spur trails that lead to the viewpoints of Copper Mountain and Western Hills.
Expect steep sections and pay close attention to trail markers. Use the app’s integrated map to help you navigate. This trail is not recommended in the summer heat, due to it’s length and lack of shade. Make sure to bring adequate food and water supplies and proper sun protection.
