Turkey Flats is a picturesque stop along Pinto Basin Road with a small parking area. It is a great place to take in sweeping panoramic views and see the contrast between the lower elevations and the higher elevations in the northwest region of the park. From the parking area, Pinto Mountain can be seen standing nearly 4,000 feet tall. The parking area includes an interpretive wayside sign educating visitors about the area.
For those interested in astronomy, Turkey Flats is an ideal place for stargazing in Joshua Tree National Park due to its remote location and exceptionally dark skies.
There are no established or maintained trails in the Turkey Flats area.
