The Pine Springs trailhead is the starting point for many park trails, and is located above the Pine Springs Visitor Center and near the campground. Except for the Pinery Trail near the visitor center, most of the trails starting here are rated strenuous with significant elevation gains. On busy weekends this trailhead area often fills first. A connector trail leads from the visitor center parking area through the campground to this trailhead.
Trails and routes beginning here include:
- Devil's Hall
- Guadalupe Peak
- El Capitan
- Salt Basin Overlook
- Hunter Peak
- The Bowl
- Foothills Loop
- Pine Springs to McKittrick Canyon
- Pine Springs to Dog Canyon via the Tejas Trail
- Tejas Trail & Bush Mountain Loop
- Overnight to Shumard Canyon
