Village East - Village (Blue) Route
in
Grand Canyon

Nearby:

  • Xanterra Public Garage
  • Xanterra General Offices
  • Village Greenway Trail

This open-air stop is on the far east side of the Village Historic District. It is adjacent to the Xanterra's Public Grarage and General Offices. On the other side of the footbridge is the Village Greenway Trail, a paved path for foot and bicycle traffic.

This is the last shuttle stop in the historic village before the Village (Blue) Route bus returns to Shrine of the Ages, the campgrounds, Market Plaza, and Grand Canyon Visitor Center.

From this shuttle stop, it is possible to walk to the canyon rim, but it is a bit of a challenge. Head west along the sidewalk and then cross over to the north side of the road at the three-way intersection. Across from the Train Depot, you can climb the stairs, or a separate paved wheelchair accessible path, up the hill to the canyon rim near El Tovar Hotel and Hopi House.

If you are finishing a walk along the Canyon Rim Trail, and want to return to Market Plaza or the Visitor Center —and you find yourself by El Tovar Hotel — take the stairs or ramp down the hill, then turn left at the three-way intersection, cross the road, and walk a little further to the Village East bus stop. You will save some time by not having to ride the shuttle around the entire historic village, with its five bus stops.
