The Inn at Death Valley was built in 1927 by the Pacific Coast Borax Works to entice visitors to come and see the area in hopes to raise support for it to become a National Park.

The dream came true in 1933 when the park was established as a National Monument, and the resort remains in private hands operating as an in-holding within what is now Death Valley National Park.
