The Pine Grove Trailhead is a junction point in Virginia Kendall Park’s interconnected trail system. Here you can access the 1.8-mile Ledges Trail, which loops around a towering sandstone outcropping. You can also access the Pine Grove Trail, named after the number of planted pine trees further along the 2.2-mile trail.

The paths to the left and behind the kiosk both lead to the Ledges Trail. Take the left route to access a connector trail to the Ledges Shelter. Take the path behind the kiosk to head towards the Ledges Overlook, which is 0.5 miles down the Ledges Trail. The trail to your right will take you to the Pine Grove Trail.

The area around you was once part of the industrialist Hayward Kendall’s private retreat. He willed it to the state of Ohio as a park to be named after his mother, Virginia Kendall. The Civilian Conservation Corps developed the area’s amenities in the 1930s. Today people still use the Virginia Kendall area to recreate, play, and relax. What will you discover?
