The reconstructed Everett Covered Bridge reflects a common historic scene in Ohio. During the 1800s, the state led the nation with over 2,000 covered bridges. Everett Covered Bridge survived until a spring storm destroyed it in 1975. School children, local citizens, private organizations, and government agencies joined hands to secure funds for a historically accurate reconstruction, completed in 1986.

Today hikers, horseback riders, environmental education students, and photographers all use the bridge regularly. Once a year, the bridge closes for a contra dance with dancing over the waters of Furnace Run. Nearby trails include the 5.6-mile Riding Run Trail, open to pedestrians and horses. They also include the 1.9-mile Furnace Run Trail, a walking trail popular for viewing spring wildflowers.
