Flash Flood Exhibit

Big Bend
When you look at this sandy wash can you picture a flash flood? Despite its benign-looking appearance, raging water has filled this drainage numerous times in the past. Flash floods are a common occurance in this dry, rocky country, especially during the summer monsoon. Check out the bridges in the park - their height and length pay tribute to the volume of water that occasionally passes under them.
