La Sal Mountains Viewpoint
in
Arches National Park

La Sal Mountains Viewpoint is located a short distance inside the park and offers an excellent overview of red rock scenery both inside and outside the park.

The viewpoint has a parking lot with a sidewalk. You can also walk onto an uneven, rocky bench with views of the La Sal Mountains, outside the park, and the Courthouse Towers area and its named features like Three Gossips, Sheep Rock, and The Organ. You can also see Balanced Rock and The Windows Section on the distant horizon.

The viewpoint is an excellent spot for sunrise and sunset.

Accessibility:

  • The parking area is paved and bounded by a sidewalk. A slickrock bench with an uneven surface extends out to an overlook, but the same features are visible from the parking lot.

  • In winter, there may be snow or icy conditions; we recommend traction devices for hikers.

  • Service animals are allowed in national parks. For a definition of a service animal, please see the Americans with Disability Act (ADA). Pets are allowed in the parking lot, but not on the slickrock bench next to the parking lot.
