
Beech Mountain is located on the western side of the island between Long Pond and Echo Lake. At the summit, enjoy south facing views of the ocean and the historic fire tower.
This Beech Mountain Fire Tower was built by the Civillian Conservation Corps workers and used as a lookout from 1941 to the mid-1950s . Views from this fire tower were critical in the fire warning communications during the Fire of 1947.
There are multiple access points to summit Beech Mountain. The different trails can be steep, uneven, and rocky in certain areas.
